I have a "old-fashioned" film camera which I received as a present before I went to Japan in 2001. I take a long time to finish a roll of film because I don't take a lot of pictures. As a result, I tend to have a lot of photos just sitting in my camera for months at a time, and then I spend a long time scanning them in once I finally develop them. Basically I need to upgrade to digital, and fast. Here's a collection of newly acquired photos, some of which were trapped in my camera, others which I received from other people's cameras.

I don't want to brag, but here's a snapshot of my cramped dorm room and the bare conditions in which I exist. I brought a couple different things I wanted to hang up but I can't get the pushpins into the wall. All I could manage was this one decoration: a souvenir noren from that aforementioned trip to Japan. I guess it's been like a carrot on a stick for me to get my schoolwork done so I can return to Japan (hopefully this fall).

This is me standing next to Cheryl Furjanic in her parents' house. We went to high school together (reunion pics here) but unlike most people I knew back then I've managed to maintain contact with Cheryl. This is in large part due to my close friendship with her younger brother Michael. However, it's worth noting here that I consider Cheryl to be one of the smartest people I have ever met, as well as one of the hardest-working people I will ever meet. She also happens to be working as a filmmaker, something I occasionally dream about doing. You can read about one of her projects here.

Here I am with my mother in Florida at the Edison & Ford Winter Estates. Quite a tree behind us, isn't it? It's an Indian Banyan and it was planted by Thomas Edison ninety years ago.
And yes, that's all only one tree. It spreads itself out over time.

Here's Mom and I on a little boat at sunset. For reasons I don't fully understand, the sun sets much later in Florida than it does in New York, despite being in the same time zone. I suspect it has something to do with latitude or longitude. I really dig that shirt I'm wearing.

This is a picture from that party I went to on Thursday. Kento took this using his digital camera and it looks great. Momo, Ryan, and Nao are on the bed, and Kazu and Jordan are sitting on the floor. Kazu looks drunk but I think the camera just caught him in a bad moment.

Still at the party, here's Nao, Rie, Taku and me.

Aziz and I really enjoyed that ice cream cake, obviously.
