Burning Up While Blogging - Blurgging?

UGH, I am straight up sick now. I left work early once I learned I had a fever, and my temperature only went up as the afternoon progressed. An evening visit to the local clinic revealed I don't have the flu, just some kind of a cold & fever combo. Oddly enough, there's nothing going on in my nose - it's all in the throat.

Leaving work before lunchtime, I made it home in time to see most of the big election results, which was actually disappointing. It's not that I didn't like the way the election unfolded, it's just that I loathe election coverage. I had hoped to come home from work this evening and just hear the good news. Instead, I clicked between NHK and CNN, waiting and watching people bullshit for over an hour before finally announcing that Barack took California and hence the electoral majority. I really don't understand how they were able to "project" those West Coast results without any precincts reporting, but I guess we all knew going into the election that McCain didn't stand a chance in California. I'm still waiting to hear about that controversial anti-gay marriage proposition that was on the ballot. Here it is, seven hours after the polls closed and I haven't got a clue.

I never got around to finishing the story of this weekend, but I'm afraid there's not much else to say. On Sunday we did meet Chiaki again, this time in Osaka for some Mexican food. We really stuffed ourselves, so much so that we spent the rest of the afternoon just slowly coming down from the high all that rich food delivered. We didn't do much other than walk around. It was fun to be out on the town but there wasn't much else to it. We were just out, without any real agenda. We wandered through a game center, browsed an electronics store, and just walked around. Eventually Chiaki had to go to work so Chad and I went back to my spot, played a few video games (we had a lot of fun with PixelJunk Monsters co-op) and rented Charlie Wilson's War, which was really good. As Phil Hoffman gets more and more work, I continue to be impressed.

Monday was even quieter, as Chad had to catch the Shinkansen back to Nagasaki. We played a few more games, enjoyed some fabulous Italian-style pizza in Ikeda (I took a picture there months ago) and that was that. Once he left, I went to my in-laws' house where Mako had gone to amuse herself for the weekend. We all had dinner together, which was nice, and I played a bit of my Wii for old time's sake.

It's only 9 o'clock but I'm beat. Let's hope this fever clears up quickly. I don't want to have to try and teach any more classes in this dazed state.
