The Pieces Fit
Wasting time between classes right now, so there's no better time to issue a challenge to my readers.
This Flash game is simple in concept: place the 50 states, one at a time, onto the map of the US. The game gives you a little leeway but if you're off by too much, it tells you so. How well can you do this? Some luck is involved, since the coastal states are a lot easier to eyeball than, say, Iowa. I haven't yet achieved a "perfect" score, but I get pretty close. Mako tried it once and managed around 75%, not bad for a foreigner. Surely all Americans can outdo her, right?
Right?

OK, I got 81%. I was scared there for a second! Harder than you think. Especially those middle states.
ohh... I just realized how wonderful that I won't be studying geography next year. I thought michigan was a city. I pieced most of the states together not through knowledge, but puzzle solving techniques. I also thought wisconson was a city as well.
Final score: 78.43 time 621 seconds

I managed a perfect score recently but it took more than a little luck. All of you got decent scores, especially you, Salena, unsurprising since we both grew up in a household where geography was emphasized.
But Samster, I'm a little disappointed with your attitude. It smacks of "I-don't-know-this-and-I'm-proud." If you didn't know Michigan and Wisconsin are states, that is a grave concern. Next time I see you I'm going to have to quiz you. The hard way.

I got,
Score: 92.15
Error: 0
Time: 335
I used to have to play a computer game exactly like that one every day in the sixth grade. We had to match States to a blank map or Organs and Bones to a human torso.
I will forever know the shapes of the states and our liver and kidneys...

Joe - Nicely done. Take care not to mix those shapes up! After all, several states resemble body parts.
[homer]Florida... America's wang[/homer]
