Dramatic Performance

So whatever happened with that skit, you ask?

The skit was a rousing success. Basically, the plot was simple: good cop, bad cop. Chad (in the blue) was the good cop, using very polite Japanese and constantly offering snacks and such to the suspect (Roger, the ninja). Meanwhile, I was the bad cop, harassing Roger constantly and using very rude Japanese. All this went on while we showed photographic (and video) evidence of Roger clearly killing people and being a ninja, despite his claims that he was, in fact, a fireman. Eventually I slay Chad for interfering in my interrogation, discover Roger stole my umbrella, which leads him to break down and finally confess.

For our efforts we were rewarded with "Best Script" by vote. I finished second in a poll for "Best Performer," missing the mark by just one vote. Much like last semester, I couldn't bring myself to vote for myself and it cost me the "award." Oh well, I still got a free T-shirt as a prize and considering how much work I put into that script, I feel great about the way everything went down.

Today was Saturday and that meant more Mako! We had some fan-fucking-tastic ramen at a place recommended by Skip and ate dinner and some place called "Allo Allo." It advertised itself as a "wine and cheese" bar which led us to jokingly describe it as チーズ料理 ("cheese cuisine"). It was enjoyable but even I admit there was too much cheese. Unlike like those "garlic restaurants" they have around here, I have my limits when it comes to dairy. And no, there were no cheese-based wines!

We also went out to the movies as there were two films I wanted to see that recently opened over here: V for Vendetta and Broken Flowers. Obviously I gave the final choice to Mako and she went (unsurprisingly) with the less violent film. I have to say I liked it but I must express my confoundment at the pace of the film. So many scenes just focus on Bill Murray silently sleeping, driving, thinking, etc. It's not that long a picture but it sure felt like one.

Tomorrow I get another dose of Mako in what should be beautiful, full-on spring weather. Let's just hope my wallet holds up; Japan is starting to take a serious toll on my pocket.
