Not-At-All-Lazy Sunday
At last, everything has become clear. It's Brendan with an a, not an o.
Today was a great day. Despite running a little late this morning (I managed to watch two different trains pull out of the station) I met Salena and Brendan at their hotel and the three of us met Mako. As usual, I was a little light on ideas of where to go and what to do, but since everything in Osaka was a novelty by definition, just walking around and doing mundane activities like shopping was fun. We hit a few different department stores in Umeda, took the subway down to Nanba and then walked to Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi. Along the way we ate and drank a couple different times, took advantage of a 100 Yen shop and I bought a "70's long sleeve shirt" at a big used-clothing off the canal, WE GO. We also managed to find a "store" where customers paid to fish by the half-hour. Brendan wanted to try it but they were totally full with a long wait.
I guess I'm being a little too brief but how much more can I say about a day like this? Everyone had a good time, I think, and certainly Mako was well-liked. My unfounded fears that she might be upset at me were completely put to rest as she was her usual, cheerful self all day. We have plans to meet again soon and I'm really looking forward to it. No hints, but it's something new and (in my opinion) pretty important. As for the week ahead, tomorrow afternoon my classes begin again. Just one to start with (not Japanese either), so I can spend the morning doing laundry or something. I'll give you my impressions of all my classes and teachers as I encounter them.
