Did I Say "Lukewarm?"
I mean smoldering. And now my throat is sore and it hurts a little when I swallow. If it's any comfort, I don't feel as lousy as I did on Thursday, even if my symptoms seem worse.

Perfect Timing
Anyway, I'm swamped with new paperwork to complete my study abroad application and midterms are coming up. So this week is the perfect time to get sick! I've got a lukewarm fever and a persistant cough. Hooray!

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG
OK, get a grip...some major news has come down the pipeline concerning my study abroad application. I don't want to jinx anything because there are still steps to be completed, but the person responsible for recommending students for study abroad has said YES. I shouldn't overreact just yet but fuck it, play the Victory Sound!
I don't know when it will be safe to say I am definitely going to Japan, but I'll bite my tongue as long as it takes to avoid ruining this. As for now, I'm really excited and I've got to calm down somehow. Maybe some homework will do the trick.

Gonzo Obligation
I feel compelled to mention the apparent suicide of Hunter S. Thompson although I cannot offer much information or even a rational explanation as to why I feel compelled to say anything at all. Sure, I read Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and saw the movie as well, but I'll be damned if I can say I understood either.
I guess what hits me the most is the notion that he killed himself. That just seems contrary to every image I had of him. He seemed like a guy who would live a unusually long time (considering how many drugs he must have taken) and I expected him to be writing right up until the very end.
Changing the subject entirely, it's snowing in Albany and has been since last night. It's quite beautiful, although it figures that the biggest snowfall I've seen this year comes smack in the middle of a four-day weekend. I was going to move my car this weekend from the uptown lot to the nearby lot which is suddenly empty because everyone else went home. However, I don't feel like digging out my car with my windshield scraper.

Progress. Seriously.
OK, I didn't get any homework done today but I emptied my laundry hamper. It took four loads, five hours and $8.00 but it's empty! Afterwards, I even put the clothes away in the dressers (I'm using both now, since I have no roommate). I don't know if this is a step towards improving my work habits or if I'm just starting to grasp structured procrastination. Either way I still have two more days to relax.
