Exodus
It's interesting, now that finals are over everyone has started to disappear. That happens at every college before break but here, there's something different. We're all exchange students from various nations, so when our time here ends we go back to our homes far, far away. Odds are, I will never see any of these people ever again and I'm just realizing this today. It makes me feel a little sad.
There are plenty of students still here and many are just leaving for the break. Most of them are talking about the just-announced World Cup seedings. Most American students couldn't care less, of course. I'm interested but I have no idea what teams are "good" or "bad." All I know is that the US team won't win. In fact, most of the students are saying they have no chance to even qualify for the second round (if that's even what they call it). Personally, I'm much more interested in the World Baseball Classic next spring and not just because I think the US might be awesome. Whoever wins, they'll be plenty of familiar faces on the winning team and I'm just a baseball fan at heart.
Tomorrow is Mako's birthday and we're going to spend the day together. I wish it was tomorrow already. With so many people disappearing I spent some unhappy time today thinking about what might happen when I have to go home. Can't dwell on that though, no point in anticipating heartbreak. Nobody knows what's going to happen next May, let alone next month!

Sounds like a strange time...lucky you, you get to stay in Japan instead of going home.
As for the hotel thing, I was thinking of staying in Osaka...I figured we could check out Kyoto and Kobe while we're there, maybe.
What do you suggest?
