Grateful
Last night's post was an accurate reflection of how I felt but I spent a lot of time today thinking about my life in general. As a result I realize that today, on Thanksgiving, I have a tremendous amount of things to be thankful for.
A quick list, in no particular order:
It's true, I don't really know where Mako and I stand. I know she's always eager to see me on her days off and we keep talking about future events like her birthday and January's planned excursion but I am aware that she definitely has a reservation about something. Maybe she's not sure about how she feels towards me, maybe she's looking ahead to my return to the US, maybe she told her parents that I'm a foreigner and it upset them. Whatever it is, I've decided that it's up to me not to exert any time or energy wondering about it because it's entirely out of my hands. So long as I am honest with her, I can be happy. What she chooses to do is up to her.
Suffice to say I am certainly not alone but I am feeling rather lonely today so I have a request to you, my friends, family and loyal readers. When you go wherever it is you go to celebrate today's holiday, please take a picture of the dinner table or similar congregation and send me a copy. Ideally, try to capture a Freedom from Want spirit in the picture, like I'm standing and looking at all of you and you're happy to see me. I'm hoping to play a little "make-believe" and pretend that I really did have Thanksgiving dinner this year. Please send the images to feitclub [AT] gmail [DOT] com. My primary interest in collecting these photos is to make me feel loved but if you're willing to let me post them on the site let me know.
I hope everyone has a great time today. I miss you.
A quick list, in no particular order:
- I'm in Japan after years of study and planning.
- I'm in a relationship with a beautiful woman who at least tolerates me and potentially really loves me.
- I have dozens of close friends who I trust implicitly, one of whom is actually here in Japan.
- My family has always been supportive of my decisions and all of them are planning to come visit me next semester.
- I'm in the best shape of my adult life, having lost over forty pounds / twenty kilograms since June.
- I'm still relatively young and I haven't aged beyond the point to try new things (save for maybe a Major League career).

Dan, I don't have a digital camera, so I can't do this for you! (If I take the pics w/ my regular camera, I have to wait to use up a whole role, etc. and it will take you forever to get them.) But I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and hope the day's not too lonely! Wish me luck getting to Penn Station to get to my mom's house. I have to cut through the parade route! Ugh!

Dan, you're right, there is so much to be thankful for. We miss you too! I know what it's like to be away from family, friends and the US on Thanksgiving. It's my favorite holiday. I will take some pics for you on Brendan's digital camera...and will be over at the Prezelskis later on, too!
Hey Dan. Happy Thanksgiving! Guess what, we had the first snow today! But unfortunatelly it starts melting now. I took pictures for you and will post them soon. Don't be sad. It's really not that bad. You have a lot of things going for you that make you happy. So just remember that. I'll also take pics of the dinner table for you and send them when I can. I'll also post them. So feel better and cheer up. It's almost christmas and visitors will come your way.

You can also be thankful that I haven't gone over there and slapped you yet. Which will happen if I detect any feeling sorry for yourself stuff again.
Sorry Dan, I read this post after I got home from my mom's house. I ate some turkey and a few other things I didn't recognize. I think it might be best if you didn't see it. If I had read this earlier I could have participated.
Cheer up buddy. Happy THanksgiving.

Hey Dan,
Sorry I got here so late in the game. My Thanksgiving was nice. I was at Erica's parents' house and let me tell you it was delightful. The Turkey was brined, dipped into a mixture of salt and sugar water tha infused that carcass with mouth watering savoryness. I haven't been able to find my digital camera, it seems to be lost under a four foot tall pile of laudry. Someday, I shall wear that hill of clothing and discover what lies beneath.
I also have some wonderful news, my seed is strong. Yes you guessed it, I have sired a child. Surprise faces all around. Smiley faces all around. My life will be a whirlwind of icecream cake parties and stern vigilance. I have much to be thankful for. :)+-<
