Super Dud
Meh...yesterday was simultaneously awesome and shitty. The awesome part was that Ben came up for a visit and a little Super Bowl party. Now that my roommate's history, Ben could simply spend the night here and we stayed up all night drinking and enjoying ourselves. As a super-bonus, Ben brought along a three-foot party wedge from Rocky's Deli. It was a delight.
What sucked? Well, the Super Bowl sucked. Big time. The game was a bore as the Patriots' victory was painfully obvious to me the entire contest. It wasn't a blowout but it was easily the dullest 24-21 contest ever. On the "media spectacle" side, nothing memorable whatsoever occurred. Paul McCartney's halftime performance was a painful reminder that Paul hasn't written a good song in thirty years. The advertisers, afraid of offending anyone, decided the best course of action was to be as bland as possible. As soon as I saw the first ad where a biker gang is frightened by pick-up trucks, I knew it would be a forgettable evening.
But what sucked even more is that none of my friends here at Albany came to party with us. Two people, Kazu and Taku, dropped by late in the evening, but Ben and I spent the bulk of last night alone. I guess it was a quick reality check to remind me that I am not the popular type. Still, I can't complain too hard because having Ben over was great. We had a lot of fun joking around in the way that only we can. Hopefully the school won't rush a new roommate in here so I can entertain friends from home more often.
