The Honeymoon is Over
The magic and merriment of getting back to work is over. Now I'm just working. I'm not super busy yet, but my schedule this semester is a lot more rigorous than last semester. I have classes five days a week, and three classes Monday through Thursday. No evening classes and nothing too early, but Tuesday and Thursday are pretty long days (10:15-16:05) so I'm beat.
Not helping matters is the food. The dining hall fare was pretty decent for the part week but tonight's menu was an all-too-familiar smack in the face to remind me that the food here sucks. It was "Oriental Night" (insensitive much?) featuring rubbery noodles, dry chicken and bland fried rice. I was only able to consume it by applying generous amounts of Tabasco sauce. That stuff has become a real life saver this year; my own personal panacea for crappy food. I never used to use hot sauce on food until I got to Albany and found myself encountering dull tastes everyday. Now I really dig it, although I find Frank's Red Hot even tastier than the Tabasco-brand. Maybe I should keep some in my fridge and smuggle it in to meals.
