Relax
It's OK everyone...it seems the Yankees were just kidding. After Friday night's embarrassing loss to the slovenly Red Sox, they beat their asses handily yesterday and today. Until they meet again next weekend in Boston, the Yanks have a week of what should be pushover teams: three against the Jays and a make-up game against the Rays. In short, the Yanks hold on the AL East should be secure.
My day wasn't as exciting as I thought it might be. I was offered a trip to a local Kendo (剣道) organization. The offer came from Leo, a guy who is in my Confucianism/Samurai Ethic class as well an officer of the aforementioned JSA. The two of us left (relatively) early this morning to head over to nearby Schenectady, a town which looks like it's seen better days. The main street, which happened to be the street the Kendo class was on, was totally torn up and under heavy construction. As a result, many businesses along the road were closed. We were unable to enter the building where the class was to be held. Indeed, there was no sign of life in any window we could see. So we turned around and went home. We'll keep in touch and hopefully I'll go on Wednesday morning instead. This might be a cool thing to do, but it might also fuck me up. I'll try to take a few pictures if we ever get into the class.
